Check Perplexity yourself
- 1.Open Perplexity and ask a question your customers ask, such as “dentist taking new patients near 17th Ave SW”.
- 2.Note whether you are named, in what place, and who else is.
- 3.Look at the sources it cites. Those are the pages you want to be on.
- 4.Ask two or three more questions, and check again in a week. Answers change.

How do I check my Perplexity ranking?
Ask Perplexity the questions a customer would type, such as “best [service] near [area]”. Note whether you are named, your place in the list, and which sources it cites. Ask again in a week, because answers change.
Why does Perplexity cite my competitor and not me?
Usually because a page Perplexity trusts for your area, such as a local guide or a review site, names them and not you. The fix is often getting onto those pages, and making your own pages clear enough to cite.
What is the difference between this and Perplexity mention tracking?
A one-off check tells you where you stand today. Mention tracking asks the same questions on a schedule and shows the trend. Sophyx tracks ChatGPT and Gemini on a schedule; for Perplexity, checking by hand is the honest option.
